Event description

Description

The Society for Education and Training (SET) is a community of practitioners and professionals across the post-14 education sector. Local Network Groups (LNGs) are an opportunity for our members to meet face-to-face so that together, they can share and develop their practice.

The Newcastle LNG meets three times a year. All those who attend will receive an attendance certificate. Networking/refreshments from 17:30, with the meeting beginning at 18:00. This meeting will feature the following sessions:

1) SET & SUNCETT: opportunities for practitioner researchers

Margaret Gregson, Director of University of Sunderland Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT)

Find out the different ways SET and the ETF can support you to develop your research skills, and hear more about the ETF/SUNCETT Practitioner Research Programme.

2) Initial and Diagnostic Assessment Workshop

Cate Clegg, Trainer and Assessor

An article by Ann Gravells on initial and diagnostic assessment was the most read article in FE News in 2018. This is a chance to discuss further, share problems and good practice in small groups.

3) Working with SEND learners

Joan Wilson, Learning Disability Development Officer at Gateshead Learning Skills

4) Newcastle SET Local Network Group: the future.

Your chance to let us know what you want from your local network group, including an opportunity for funding to run your own events in Teesside/Sunderland.
