General Activity Description:
A HALF-day, face-to-face, practical course in which participating teachers will be able to review and build on their existing knowledge and understanding of the Grades 3 syllabus exercises.
Aims:
- Provide an overview of syllabus exercises allowing teachers to refresh and expand their existing knowledge in relation to the syllabus content.
- Exemplify the required movements as notated in “The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique” book.
- Clarify the process, methodology, music and development of the vocabulary and choreography found in the syllabus.
- Provide an opportunity for teachers to understand the Mark scheme and how these apply to the preparation of students for assessment: Examinations, Class Awards and Solo Performance Awards where appropriate
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to have in-depth knowledge and understanding of:
- The development of the vocabulary, choreography and music found in the syllabus.
- The vocabulary used in Grade 3 in relation to the 'The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique' book
- The methodology and processes of teaching Grade 3
- The Mark scheme and how it applies to the preparation of students for assessment: Examinations, Class Awards and Solo Performance Awards
Recommended preparation:
- Knowledge of the exercises of the RAD Grade 3 Syllabi.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Specification relating to Grade 3 Syllabi

Ms Agnes Huang
RAD Examiner, CBTS tutor, CPD tutor, Registered Teacher
Ms. Huang started her ballet training when she was seven. She obtained her Advanced Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance and Advanced Certificate from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in 1978 and 1983 respectively. Ms. Huang furthered her ballet studies in London and Cannes. She was highly commended in the Teacher’s Diploma Examination of the Royal Academy of Dance in 1985.
Since 2003, Ms. Huang has been appointed as the Grades Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance. She traveled to various countries around the world as an Examiner. She has examined in Thailand, Mexico, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Greece.
In 2007, Ms. Huang became a Tutor for the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies by the Royal Academy of Dance. In 2012, Ms. Huang is appointed as tutor for the new Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses by RAD.
