This September, the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) are hosting a series of webinars designed for creative teachers, educators, and researchers.
These sessions will share the valuable insights and knowledge gained from our recent project, Zandra Rhodes’ Colourful Heritage. The project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, aims to inspire the next generation of designers and creative practitioners by providing a vibrant resource for students to explore fashion heritage, develop some practical skills and connect with leading industry professionals. Join us for a free webinar series designed for educators of all levels, where we’ll showcase valuable teaching resources including the Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection and Creative Learning Toolkit, share practical insights to help you better support and inspire the young people you teach in their creative education and development.
The webinar series will take place across 3 days and the timings for each session will be 16.00 - 16.45. Recordings will be made available to all registered participants, even if you're unable to attend live.

- Tuesday 2nd September 2025 - Exploring the Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection with Lisa Moore
This session offers an introduction to the Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection, a rich resource showcasing high quality images of over 500 iconic garments by the British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes. The collection provides detailed views of textile designs, construction techniques, and embellishments, making it a valuable resource for students, educators, and researchers in fashion, textiles, and design. Participants will also receive practical guidance on the ethical use of digital images, including copyright considerations and best practices for attribution and acknowledgment.

- Wednesday 3rd September 2025 - See, Think, Sketch: Slow Looking in Action with Ellen Brown
This session demonstrates how educators can utilise the Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection with their students through a guided exploration of the designer’s bold use of print, colour, and silhouette. Using a slow looking approach, participants will be encouraged to analyse a garment in depth—examining shape, motif, texture, and emotional impact. Observations will be recorded through sketching, note-taking, and colour studies, supporting the development of visual research and critical analysis skills.

- Thursday 4th September 2025 - Drawing Together: Using Social Media to Build Creative Community with Ellen Brown
This session explores how social media platforms can be used to encourage students to develop regular drawing habits and create wider creative communities. Through practical examples and tips, participants will discover how daily or weekly drawing challenges can help students build confidence, stay motivated, and see their work as part of a broader dialogue. The session will also touch on strategies for promoting mindful engagement. Whether you're working with beginners or more advanced students, this session offers tools for using digital spaces to inspire consistency, connection, and creativity.
