About this event
This half-day CPD-accredited study session by Menopause And Cancer, the UK’s only non-profit dedicated to supporting survivors in treatment-induced menopause, (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM) is designed specifically for healthcare professionals working with patients who have experienced gynaecological cancers — including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulval cancers — and who enter menopause as a result of as a result of various forms of cancer treatment such as surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
Led by experts in menopause after cancer, alongside real patient voices, the course equips professionals with practical, relevant knowledge to improve support for and communication with patients experiencing a sudden or early menopause.
Why This Course Is Needed
- Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or hormone therapy often result in abrupt and permanent menopause, especially in patients with gynaecological cancers.
- Menopause in this context can be more severe, often immediate, and deeply under-addressed in clinical pathways.
- 88% of women we surveyed reported receiving no menopause support following treatment.
- There are only 100 NHS menopause specialists across the UK and no standardised menopause training in oncology settings.
Healthcare professionals supporting gynaecological cancer patients urgently need tailored training to meet this need — and that’s what this course delivers.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand how and why menopause differs after gynaecological cancer treatment.
- Learn to identify and assess key symptoms, including those affecting physical, emotional, and sexual health.
- Review safe and effective management strategies, including hormonal and non-hormonal options, holistic care, and referral pathways.
