Event description
In this workshop neuroscientist, Dr. Gabija Toleikyte will explain the importance of relationships and the impact they have on our brains.

About this Event

Many of us will have experienced that warm glow of first falling in love or the great feeling we get when we are in the presence of loving and caring friends or even a colleague with whom we have a great rapport. These feelings are created by a chemical called oxytocin. Oxytocin not only makes us feel great but it also increases brain plasticity, protects the brain from the negative effects of chronic stress and helps our brains to function best. By contrast, unpredictable, argumentative and otherwise stressful relationships (we will call them adversarial relationships) do quite the opposite: they reduce brain plasticity, block our creativity, reduce empathy and contaminate our lives with chronic stress.

However, creating empowering relationships is not always easy. Each of us has a completely different brain, which affects our thinking and communication and means we react differently to the same events. Problems occur when we try to understand other people's behavior using only our own brains, subconsciously making assumptions that they are the same as we are, leading to a line of misunderstandings. Often, even if we understand that we are different from another person, we still feel lost and misunderstood, which affects our own wellbeing and the dynamics of the relationship. Moreover, recent neuroscience research shows that there are significant differences between male and female brains, which complicates matters even further.

In this workshop neuroscientist Dr. Gabija Toleikyte will explain what components are needed for us to create oxytocin-inducing, empowering relationships and provide practical brain-based tips on how could we better understand and empower each other and help other people to improve their relationships.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • The neuroscience of why relationships are important for us and why do they affect us so much.
  • What are the DIFFERENCES between individual brains and what does it mean in terms of our behavior in relationships?
  • What happens in our brains when we are in a SAFE RELATIONSHIP versus the ADVERSARIAL RELATIONSHIP?
  • What are the differences between THE MALE AND THE FEMALE BRAINS and how does that reflect on the behaviors in the relationship?
  • Practical tips on how to LISTEN EMPATHICALLY to another person?
  • Practical tips on how to best COMMUNICATE so the other person would really understand you?
  • The neuroscience of HELPING OTHERS to improve their relationships.

Moreover, you will be surrounded by other like-minded people and do fun interactive tasks together.

Join if you want to understand other people better, improve your relationships and understand how to help others to make their relationships better too. Moreover, you will receive a Certificate of Advanced Learning in Applied Neuroscience (4h), which you will be able to include in your CPD training list.

Testimonials of previous workshops/seminars

"I attended Gabi's first workshop in January and was at the point of giving up on my long term goal of becoming a freelance coach and wellbeing expert. After attending the second workshop and having a thirty-minute coaching call with G, not only is my dream now alive again, more importantly, I am making progress towards it with concrete actions. This is thanks to Gabija, whose coaching really works. Thanks, Gabija for helping me to keep the dream alive and having fun with it!" - Angelina

"What I got from the last seminar was a reconnection with loving life in the full and inspiration to work through changes that will facilitate that. It was most enjoyable. I will be booking the next one!" - Richard

"I thoroughly enjoyed this. Good to hear things that make me happy are actually good for my brain & my creativity. I'll be back" - Anna

"Really brilliant and engaging. The speaker brought the best out of the audience, and vice versa" - Tomas

"Stimulating, thought-provoking and lively. I loved the interactive format as it kept the momentum of the presentation going. I also met some lovely people." - Heather

"A greatly balanced talk, enough information to spark your curiosity and make your brain move but just enough to prevent information overload. Already booked another talk with Gabija" - Simona
