Nissan is a Japanese multinational vehicle manufacturer established in 1934 and has its global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. The company sells its vehicles under the Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun brands and products include luxury vehicles, commercial vehicles, forklift trucks, outboard motors etc. and has been part of the Renault–Nissan Alliance since 1999.
The plant in Sunderland, England was completed in 1986 and by 2007, it was producing 400,000 vehicles per year, landing it the title of the most productive plant in Europe.
Currently, Nissan is the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, with global sales of more than 275,000 all-electric vehicles as of December 2016. The top-selling vehicle of the carmaker's line up is the Nissan Leaf, the world's top-selling plug-in all electric car. As of August 2016, Nissan electric vehicles were sold in 48 world markets and the company plans to launch two additional battery electric vehicles by March 2017.
It is anticipated there will be an electric vehicle on site for closer viewing (weather permitting). Please note that car parking is free for this event and light refreshments provided.
