Event description

Description

The first event of the CQI West of Scotland Branch's programmme for 2019-20 will take place on Thursday 3rd Otober 2019. Following a short AGM at 6.30 pm, our speaker for the opening event will be Nhamo Mtetwa, a lecturer in risk management at Glasgow Caledonian University. Nhamo is a colleague of Professor Mannion and has been involved in study related to the impact of AI since joining the university. Prior to his work at Glasgow Caledonian, Nhamo worked in the risk department of JP Morgan.

Nhamo will talk about his work between the university and commerce in relation to the practical use of AI and how AI can assist industry in the solution of problems and in the improved control of production processes.

The presentation will focus on the historic and future phases of AI - what started it off, where it is now, where it is headed in the near future, and what is still a long way off. A Capability & Maturity model to guide and control the use of data will also be presented.

Nhamo will also invite discussion on the challenges that AI presents for quality professionals as its implementation in commerce, industry and the sciences gathers pace.

Refreshments, and the opportunity to network with colleagues, will be available from 6.00pm, prior to the short AGM at 6.30pm and the meeting start at 7.00pm. Guests are welcome but may not vote on AGM issues.

Room D134 is easily accessd via entry at the main High street entrance then descending one floor using the doors adjacent to the coffee bar at the rear of the main vestibule. Signs will be posted. Contact sec.scotwest@quality.org if any further details are required.
