Cracked Contours Art Exhibition
Sityoyen Art collective presents their first group exhibition at The Nest Gallery inside the Pheonix Hub, which will run from the 15th Oct till mid Nov.
But the ground beneath us is shifting, grumbling as the rocks below scrape and force themselves past each other, under the immense weight of buildings so tall they block out the sun.
We’re picking at the loose shards, pushing them into paths as we wander forward.
Using the earth and whatever it reveals to draw lines on the cracked walls.
Old fabric, strewn across the streets, once filled with bodies, now left to be lifted and stitched along the way.
The flower sits in its designated triangle, stolen by reflections and shattered in duplicates across our nest of glass.
The cracks were there when we started and they follow us up to the top; to a view that we can’t control.
Within seconds the glass spreads its revised contours over the hills.
Where there were trees, there are corridors, where there were leaves, there are squares, within squares.
But the cracks are creeping in from the corners, plants pushing through and tightening their grip, the ground beneath us is shifting, with roots so deep you could follow forever.
It’s hard to believe what little sleep you can achieve in such a dark place, but so much glass portray so many skies, there is not a one anymore.
Squinting against the small piece of sun from over the road, the artists try to readjust their pieces in the little place they can. There are no reasons for these walls we’re building other than to show you where we’ve been, to connect with you so that we can be a collection of assembled shards.
Sitoyen will be holding some interesting participatory events in their new found nesting place that will run alongside their exhibition, we'll keep you updated (:
