Cracow Guitar Quartet was founded in 2006 and consists of artists connected with Cracow: Milosz Maczynski, Joanna Baran-Nosiadek, Lukasz Dobrowolski and Mateusz Puter. The ensemble has been involved in implementing music projects both in Poland and abroad and has been performing at the most prestigious guitar music festivals.

The quartet has been conducting master classes for young virtuosos of classical guitar and recording for Polish Radio and TV.

In 2009 the ensemble was awarded the first prize at the 12th International Guitar Competition in Ile de Re, France. In 2010 the CM Records published the CD of the quartet "From Ballet to Tango" demonstrating the beauty and richness of dance music spreading over from the Renaissance to modernity, bridging the gap between Europe and South America, spanning a vast body of work, from masterpieces to enchanting folk-based compositions, all the being performed in the new intriguing sound of four classical guitars. This recording received excellent reviews in the Polish and foreign music press.

In 2017 the ensemble was awarded the Grand Prix of the 5th International Master Competition for Music Teachers and in May of 2018 the 3rd prize at the 15th Altamira Gorizia International Guitar Competition in Italy.

The concert is a part of the #Krakowexperience festival, 20-22.09.2019, celebrating the extension of partnership between twin cities of Edinburgh and Krakow. Full programme of the event has also been published on Eventbrite.

The festival is organised by the Scottish Polish Cultural Association in partnership with Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, The City Of Krakow, The City of Edinburgh Council and a range of partners.
