Event description

Description

Travelling on the John Bunyan Community Boat, we will be departing the Priory Marina Bedford at 14:30pm. Taking a leisurely course downstream towards Willington, you are free to work on your latest knit, crochet, cross-stitch or sewing project whilst enjoying the peaceful surrounds of the riverside.

The layout will be set up in tables of four, so you have the ideal space to work in comfort. Don't be put off if you are on your own as this layout; combined with a four hour excursion allows plenty of time for you to settle in with your project, and an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and share your love of handmade.

As we all know the crafting community is an inclusive space, where everyone is made to feel welcome, and no doubt this trip will be no exception.

Just to make it extra special, you will be treated to a yummy cream tea at no extra cost. A delicious handmade scone, Rhodda's Clotted Cream, Strawberry Jam and your choice of Tea or Coffee.

There will be a small selection of other light refreshments available for purchase from the John Bunyan Cafe Bar should you need any additional snacks or drinks.

We will return to Priory Marina at 18:30pm.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Priory Marina is the home mooring of the John Bunyan. Parking is free in the Priory Country Park car park, and from there, head towards the Beefeater restaurant. To the left of the restaurant garden you will see the Marina gates, the John Bunyan is moored to the left of that. Please wait at the barrier for a crew member to escort you to the mooring.

What time should I arrive at the embarkation point?

The Vessel will be ready for boarding 15 minutes before the agreed Cruise Start time. We ask that passengers arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before boarding. Passengers who need to be dropped off by car near the Marina Gates, are asked to do so by prior arrangement only, and not to block access for Marina residents. Please email me to discuss your requirements at padraigin.handmade@gmail.com

Accessibility?

The boat is equipped with an access lift (dimensions 1000mm x 770mm) which can take a medium sized wheel chair, walking frame, or a seat for people with disabilities. It has a toilet wide enough to accommodate a medium-sized wheelchair.

Please ensure you book the wheelchair access ticket if you will be bringing your chair onboard the vessel as we need to ensure the space is available. Thank you.

All wheelchair users will board first and depart last.

Mobility scooters are not permitted on board the vessel, and cannot be stored anywhere at the departure point.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email me at: padraigin.handmade@gmail.com

Note: cruise options are subject to river conditions and on the day the Boatmaster has the right to adjust the chosen route for safety reasons.
