About this event

Hobbies • DIY

Not your traditional Batik, but a unique Batik technique where we you will create Batik art on a beautiful mahogany coaster using Batik Kayu, a Javanese Batik dyeing technique.

The Batik Kayu craft uses traditional Batik wax-resist dyeing techniques on a mahogany wood surface instead of your usual cotton fabric. This fun and therapeutic workshop is suitable for anyone, even absolute beginners.

You will create your own Batik plate while learning the basics of the art of Batik canting including its history, how it is made, and the tools & materials used. You’ll then experiment with mixing colours to produce the right tone and shade and take home a unique piece. So get creative and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Batik and create your own 20cm Batik plate perfect to either keep for display or to use at your next party or dinner party.
