This beautiful and time-honoured craft passed down through generations, where natural fibres are transformed into meaningful, functional art. Rooted in the traditions of Borneo’s indigenous communities, weaving is more than just technique—it’s a connection to culture, nature, and heritage.
In this beginner-friendly 1-hour workshop by Kunang Studio, you’ll explore the basics of craft weaving through the creation of your very own rattan coaster. Using locally sourced natural materials like Rattan and Bemban—fibres traditionally used by Borneo’s native artisans—you’ll be guided by an experienced craftsperson to learn simple weaving techniques and experiment with textures and patterns.
This calming and creative session offers a therapeutic escape into the world of traditional craftsmanship. Whether you're looking to try something new or reconnect with cultural roots, you’ll walk away with both a handmade piece and a deeper appreciation for heritage art.
