Craftivism Workshop with Hannah Ayre at Callendar House Falkirk
Date and time
Join us for a fun afternoon creating textile 'craftivism' style banners with artist Hannah Ayre to form an installation at Callendar Park
About this event
This workshop led by participatory artist Hannah Ayre forms part of a series of workshops being held with local communities to create small textile banners as part of our 'Pledge to the Planet' Event taking place in Callendar Park on Sat 4th June (11-3).
We'll be making a series of small banners coming out of an informal and relaxed discussion within the group, about how we as individuals can make changes to support the climate crisis. We'll discuss small pledges we might already be making or like to make which will then lead into the making of a series of banners. Each banner will be made through a process of stitching or creating lettering using a die cutting machine. A heat press will then be used to attach the adhesive felt lettering onto a fabric background. All fabrics have been sourced from Borders Scrapstore in Selkirk. It will be positive, and inspirational, rather than preachy!
The banners made will then form part of an installation to take place within some of the trees around the Crazy Golf area in the park next to Callendar House.
The workshop is free, with materials provided, as well as a light lunch to start off the session. In region of 6-10 participants expected.
Workshop suitable for adults only. If you're a family or part of a community group interested in taking part do get in touch with Rosy Naylor and we may be able to arrange a separate workshop.
The 'Pledge to the Planet' project is supported by Falkirk Council & Paths for All COP26 Legacy Fund.
