CraftNet Midlands – Have your say about shaping the future of craft in the Midlands

Friday 28th April 2017

Workshop and networking 1.30-4.30pm

Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery

NOTTINGHAM

CraftNet and the Crafts Council look forward to welcoming you to a Midlands regional network meeting for makers, curators, guilds, educators, gallery owners and all those with an interest in developing contemporary craft on Friday 28th April from 1.30pm to 4.30 pm at Nottingham Castle.

Led by facilitator Laura Drane, this event will take the form of a workshop sharing findings from our 2016 meeting in Birmingham when the challenges and opportunities in our geographic, cultural, economic and social contexts were discussed.

We will also brainstorm ideas for a strategic development plan that seeks to develop the long term craft ecology in the Midlands.

Places are free but must be pre-booked as space is limited.

Light refreshments available on arrival and during the afternoon.

Before the meeting attendees might also like to take this opportunity to see:

Close Distance, a new commission by Caroline Broadhead, Nic Sandiland and Angela Woodhouse for the Prospect Room at sister Museum, Wollaton Hall.

&

The Object is Alive: Matthew Darbyshire, the current temporary exhibition at Nottingham Castle.

If you wish to participate in a special tour at 11am (lasting approx. 45 minutes) please email the organisers. Wollaton is 3miles outside the city centre and transport to Nottingham Castle can be organised.
