Fire & Folklore
Welsh Myths and Tales through the art of Pyrography with Mr Kobo
As part of the Welsh Museums Festival Storiel the Museum of Gwynedd are proud to present a series of interactive PyroArt workshops inviting children and families to explore the mysterious world of Welsh folklore through the ancient art of pyrography (woodburning).
Participants will learn how to draw and write using this unique artform to create wooden works of art inspired by ghostly tales and characters such as Y Ladi Wen, Yr Hwch Ddu Gota and Jac y Lantarn, while celebrating the myths and legends of the ancient Celts.
Each session will begin with a short introduction to one or more of these tales, sparking imaginative thinking and creative interpretation. Guided by local artist Mr Kobo (Nader Kohbodi), participants will then design and add their images into wood.
The workshops aim to connect creative expression with Welsh heritage learning, combining storytelling, traditional crafts, and the use of Welsh-language terms, tales and characters.
This is a family workshop and under 11 participants must be acompanied by a parent or guardian .
