What is Youth MHFA?

Youth MHFA offers an internationally recognised course designed especially for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 to 18 years.

Participants learn how to provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young persons mental and emotional well-being and to support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

What will I learn on a Youth MHFA course?

The aims of Youth MHFA are to enable participants to:

  • Gain a more in-depth understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
  • Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
  • Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
  • Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences

How will I learn?

The Youth MHFA consists of two full days.

You’ll receive a Youth MHFA manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and a certificate from MHFA England.

Coastal West Sussex Mind

Welcome to Coastal West Sussex Mind

We are an independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.

We aim to promote good mental health through the provision of high quality services and through campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and understanding.

Our services support young people, adults, older adults, carers and families affected by mental health problems. We offer help and advice to people around improving their physical and mental well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and confidence, building strong relationships with family, friends and communities, getting into education, training and work and achieving their personal and social goals.

We also work actively in local communities to raise awareness about mental health and tackle the stigma and discrimination.
