About this event
2.5 hour Workshop Wednesday 6.30pm - 9pm
"Enrol by 12th October and save 5% on your course fee — no code needed!"
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to create a bulb lasagne—a clever layering technique that allows for continuous flowering from late winter through to late spring, all in a single pot. This method is perfect for adding long-lasting colour to your garden or patio.
The session will begin with a live demonstration, showing you step-by-step how to build your bulb lasagne. Then, you'll roll up your sleeves and create your own, guided by expert advice and practical tips.
There will be plenty of time for questions, and you'll receive helpful information on selecting the right bulbs for your container. While some basic knowledge of bulb varieties is useful, it's not essential—everything you need to make informed choices will be provided.
Course Content:
- Welcome to workshop
- Group introductions
- Information about bulb selection for pots
- Practical demonstration on how to create a bulb lasagne
- Time for any questions
- Hands on session’ - creating your own bulb lasagne
- Time for any final questions
What will I Need to Bring:
· A suitable pot – it is recommended that you bring a pot with a minimum depth of 30cm and a minimum width at the top of 40cm. This will allow room for 3 layers of bulbs whilst providing plenty of space for bulb root growth. The type of pot is entirely your choice, although do bear in mind the finished weight of your pot once it’s full of compost and bulbs!
· Compost – please bring sufficient quantity of multipurpose compost to fill your pot along with some crocks for the bottom. These help keep any holes at the bottom of the pot free from roots and enable good drainage, which is especially important when planting bulbs
· Bulbs – I think half the fun of creating a ‘bulb lasagne’ is choosing the bulbs and designing a colour scheme.
To help with this a detailed information sheet with advice on selecting your bulbs (including approximate numbers) will be supplied to you upon enrolment.
· Finishing off your pot – if you would like to add some colour for autumn/winter then consider bringing a few viola plants to plant in the top layer or you can simply finish your pot off with a layer of grit or gravel
