Workshop leader Joanne King will help you to explore the medium of air dry clay. Each person is given a piece of clay to which they are invited to create their ideal home/area in which to live. This could be a house, cave, castle, gardens, shop, school etc. Basically, starting from scratch, you are given a plot of land (clay) for to do what you like, to build a community. A few techniques will be shown but the main thing is being creative yourself and playing with the clay. Things can be added into the clay structure like shells, fabrics etc. you can build around a glass jar to allow access inside for candle to look like lights. The homes can be painted or left with the clay effect. Once created everyone is invited to put their homes together to build a community and may want to build on the collaborative piece. There is space during and at the end to talk about this experience and the bringing together of a community and what their home has to offer. They will then be allowed to take photos of the final piece before taking their built structure home.

Use of clay allows us to feel and hold something that is millions of years old. Elements of the earth are grounding yet playful at the same time. Allows permission to be messy and powerful as energy is released into the clay and the participant is able to gain control back from such a chaotic year by creating their own stable structure using their imagination. No experience needed to enjoy this workshop.
