About this event

Create a personalised neon light sign

A guided workshop to produce a unique neon desktop light sign. The light is battery powered so it can be displayed anywhere you like!

Explore freehand writing styles and simple one line image production before designing your own light sign, which can be of an image or a word.

Choose from a selection of coloured EL (electroluminescent) wire and follow your drawn design before creating a support from acrylic rod and connecting the wire to a battery pack.

Once all the components are made, you will assemble the light together onto an oak base.

• Learn how to transfer designs from line to wire.

• Cut, shape and finish acrylic rod using a small saw, file and abrasive paper.

• Assemble simple electrical components to complete the circuit.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities.

*The wire provided is 50cm long which should suit most 3/4/5 letter words or simple shapes. If you would like to produce a longer word or more complex shape, please let us know at least a week prior to the course date. A 1m length can be used instead but will be an extra £3.50 charge

Cost

£37.50 - includes material and equipment usage

Organised by

The Craft House was established in 2016 in Saltaire by April Chamberlain, who continues to manage the business. Having started in Saltaire, The Craft House is now run from new, larger, premises at 109-111 Main Street, Bingley. We have a lovely ground floor cafe and welcoming workshop spaces on the first floor (reached by stairs with two handrails). We offer a vibrant programme of art, craft and textile workshops and courses for adults, enabling you to develop existing skills as well as try new activities. Working closely with a team of talented artist/maker tutors, we provide expertly-run classes in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We cater for a range of skill levels, from first-time participants to people with existing skills (including other professional artists and makers looking to develop their techniques). Our emphasis is on encouraging creativity and enjoyment whilst passing on key skills. We also cater for private parties and events - please telephone us or call into the cafe to discuss. Please note that all our events are subject to us achieving minimum booking requirements, as we need to ensure they are commercially viable for our tutors - if we have to cancel an event, we will refund your ticket and give you as much notice as possible.
