Course Intro - Although WordPress was originally set up for people to use as a blogging platform to share their opinions, knowledge and stories, it has now evolved into a powerful web publishing and content management tool used by millions around the world. Powering over 28% of all websites on the internet, Wordpress can cover every type of website required and whatever the purpose for being on the web, WordPress can help gain that presence.

Course aim - The aim of this course is to guide you through the setup and launch of an affordable and useful website that will help boost your business opportunities. The website will be an information/brochure style website.

Course Outline - This course will focus on using the WordPress software downloaded from WordPress.org.


Day 1

Day 1 wilI focus on installing and setting up the latest version of the WordPress software including:

  • WordPress software installation into host account database
  • Dashboard and overview
  • Main Settings and configuration

Using WordPress Themes

  • Selecting and Installing Themes
  • Basic Theme options

Using Plugins and Widgets

  • Selecting and Installing Plugins
  • Adding Widgets to Widget areas in a Theme

Note: you will need to have a registered domain and access to your host account and email account too.

Day 2

Day 2 will follow on from day 1’s session by creating a navigation structure and adding content to your website including;

Adding Content including website policies

  • Creating and placing Menus

What do I need to have with me?

Registered domain

Login details to access your web host account,

Access to your email account

Sample or real content (text and images)

Website plan from intro workshop, your own website plan or a very good idea of how you want your website to look and what you want it to contain.

Do I need to know coding or be highly technical?

No coding required although we will be copying and pasting some information into a coded document provided by WordPress. There is nothing to worry about though as you will be guided through the process by our experienced trainer.

You do not need to be highly technical however we do require you to be able to use a computer proficiently and be willing to learn some new skills.

Will lunch be provided?

To maintain the low cost and due to venue restrictions, we do not provide lunch however you will be provided with an 1 hour lunch break and there are lots of places to go and eat in close proximity to the building.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, we will have a list of attendees at the event


What is the refund policy?

Your ticket is non refundable or transferable for no shows.
