About this event

Business • Career

During Create your career week, sessions delivered will aim to support participants to:

  • Start career planning with advice from C&E
  • Practice preparing professional documents for upcoming applications, interviews or creative projects you are focused on.
  • Gain insight on how to build and maintain professional connections for your career.
  • Get access to resources and useful signposts to support you with your employability queries and needs.

These sessions are designed as a mix between lecture-style and participant-led workshops. Providing a space for you to not only gain (or renew) knowledge and insights for your employability, but to apply and tailor it to your creative career needs.

Who are our sessions for:

All sessions delivered by careers support are for UAL pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate students, UAL alumni and UAL graduates only.

This session is particularly beneficial for:

  • Students and graduates who want to prioritise updating their professional documents and dedicate focused time within their calendar to do so.
  • Students and graduates who want to apply knowledge and insights from Create your Career events, and resources shared
  • Students and graduates who want to update their CV's, portfolios, complete an application, search for paid opportunities, update their online professional platforms, or prepare for an interview.

What to expect:

This session has been designed to create a digital co-working space for students, graduates and alumni to focus on their employability.

The co-working space will be accessible via Moodle, with access to different breakout rooms for you to either prioritise updating or reviewing your professional documents with or amongst peers and with support from one of our careers support experts to answer any small and quick queries.

This session will be hosted on Blackboard Collaborate and will not be recorded. Participants will receive a link to the space upon registration for the event.

The space will be open throughout the day from 10 am - 4:30 pm, you can drop in and stay for as much time as you need, depending on your availability.

Requirements:

The main requirement to join is you must have a professional document or something need to work on that you've been putting off or struggling to find the time to focus on. In some breakout spaces, you must be willing to interact and share any knowledge with peers, others will be silent spaces where you can use techniques like pomodoro to complete/get started on a task.

This session will work better if you can log in via a laptop/desktop.

Why join?

This session will give you a dedicated space to prioritise your employability as well as access useful resources and activity sheets and an opportunity to reach out to your peers and our team.
