About this event

Have you ever seen a flower so beautiful, you wanted to keep it forever? In this workshop, we'll show you how!
Come for a walk at Northern Roots, collect natural items like feathers, leaves and flowers, and learn how to save them in your very own herbarium.
A herbarium is a collection of preserved plant specimens. Invented by Italian doctor and botanist Luca Ghini in the early 16th century, it is a method of pressing and drying plants and mounting them on paper, a technique that enables their preservation for scientific study.
In this family-friendly workshop you will learn how to identify what you’ve collected, how to press your plant specimen, make notes, label and present it.
This session is suitable for children for aged 5 to 12 and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets cost £3 per child and are free for adults.
