RIO is pleased to invite creatives, cultural organisations, social entrepreneurs, strategic thinkers and social enterprises to a unique event on Tuesday 19th July designed to bring the cultural and enterprise sector together.
The event will be an inspiring mix of ideas, inspiration and challenge to explore new models for a resilient creative sector. You'll be able to explore creativity in our 'creative intervention' workshop and find out more about the strength of the social enterprise sector in Cornwall in our social enterprise themed workshop. There is also the chance to listen to presentations from leaders in the cultural, creative and social enterprise sectors and ask them questions!
This event also marks the official launch of the Engine Room, a programme funded by ERDF and delivered by RIO – in partnership with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change and the School for Social Entrepreneurs, Cornwall – which provides expert support to Cornish-based pre start-up and start up social enterprises. We’re especially keen to support creative social enterprises to get off the ground. You can find out more and register for support at this event.
We want you to be involved!
Do you have an idea or project that you would like fellow inspiring minds to explore and develop with you? We are looking for some real current ideas to explore how these can be further developed and supported. If you are interested in submitting a creative or enterprise idea, you can register for this when you sign up for the event!
Do you have a question for our panel? Do you want to know what makes a resilient creative sector? What does it mean to be resilient? What are the characteristics of a resilient social entrepreneur? How do you make creative and business ideas in these challenging but opportunistic times? What support is out there? We would like to collect questions from attendees to ask our panel of experts including:
- Darren Henley, CEO of Arts Council England
- Will Coleman, Director of Golden Tree Productions
- Toby Parkins, Founder and Director of UKNetWeb and President of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce
- Sally Hawken, Councillor for Liskeard Town and Liskeard East
- Lindsey Hall, CEO of Real Ideas Organisation
Send your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to include as many as possible throughout the event.
Through taking part, you will make connections with other inspiring minds, know what support is out there either for yourself or for others and join an interesting debate around new models for the creative sector. You’ll have access to a range of experts and leading individuals from the creative, enterprise and political sectors to help you explore your own business idea or project. You’ll also get the chance to hear from inspiring social enterprises and witness some inspiring culture and creativity!
This is a South West Bridge event in partnership with Talent Match Cornwall and the Social Enterprise Engine Room, and aims to explore creative social enterprise, cultural education and young people's pathways to the creative industries. The event will also explore resilient and sustainable business models for the creative sector.
Refreshments will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
