About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Did you know that creating the right learning environment can result in learning gains in reading, writing and maths of up to 16%?

This short course aims to give an overview of how the physical environment of the classroom can impact on children and young people’s speech, language and communication. It introduces practical strategies that can be introduced and embedded within individual classes or across a whole setting, to enable a good communication environment and support attention and listening, language, communication, and behaviour.

Aims:

• To develop an understanding of how the physical environment impacts on communication

• To know which aspects of the learning environment could affect successful communication

• To provide practical strategies to enable you to adapt aspects of your learning environment in order to create communication friendly classrooms.

Ideal for:

Teachers and Childcare/Education staff in Early Years, Foundation stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. This session is aimed at a Universal level of provision and so strategies and environmental modifications can be adapted and applied to support all children within the setting, including those with speech, language and communication needs and English as an Additional Language.

Please note: This course will be run as an online training session via Microsoft Teams. When you book, you will receive information about how to access the training and how the session will be run.

Please note that our training courses and workshops are designed to be interactive, to ensure participants get the most from the session. With this in mind, we ask that you check to ensure that both your camera and microphone are working prior to the course.

Each person attending the training needs to purchase an individual ticket.
