Creating an Inclusive Culture – Beyond Difference to Living the Difference
Wed 29 March 2017, 09:00 – 16:30 BST
The quality of everything we do begins with the quality of the thinking we do first. The quality of the thinking depends on how we are treated when we are thinking. In this interactive workshop participants will learn how to dismantle stereotypes that inhibit thinking and to create inclusive, respectful cultures that enable people to think well together.
Why choose this course:
The NHS needs to tap into the talent of all its people and move beyond hierarchy, power, race and other factors which set people apart. In this workshop you’ll learn techniques that challenge stereotypes and experience an environment where all are welcome, included and encouraged to participate.
What the course can’t do:
You’ll learn techniques that you can apply straight away, but to bring about real change takes persistence, courage and encouragement! Fortunately, we will look at ways of providing this beyond the session itself.
What will it cover?
The day will:
• Explore how stereotypes can become a basis for discrimination
• Give you an insight into the challenge of internalised oppression
• Teach you how to remove the limiting assumptions created by stereotypes
• Teach you techniques to create an environment where people treat each other well and consequently think well together.
Registration is from 9:00am, for a prompt 9:30am start. Tea/coffee and lunch will be provided.
NHS EMPLOYEES ONLY.
