Creating Communication Friendly Classrooms For All

On Thursday 13 November, join us at Chapman House, The Derby Conference Centre for an in-person training session on ‘Creating Communication Friendly Classrooms For All’.   

Led by former teacher and SEND consultant and former Speech and Language teacher, Gabby Gregory, this event is exclusively for SEND professionals.   

So many teachers and education professionals are facing a huge challenge in providing inclusive classrooms when met with many differing needs. In this training, Gabby will use her extensive speech and language experience to give practical tips and strategies you can take away and implement immediately.   Communication affects every pupil so this is ideal for any school professional as it benefit all learners.  

The event runs for three hours from 1pm – 4pm. Here’s what we will be covering:   

• The Communication Chain (and why it is so vital to understand it for ALL learners)   

• Cognitive Load theory   

• Visuals - why/how we need and use them, and why we don't REALLY seem to use them to our advantage   

• Practical learning and how to use those 'spare minutes' (lining up, etc) We will have a go at some games etc that we can use to fill those minutes so no learning is lost   

• Samples/Example activities/resources to use/good resource sites/modelling etc
