This half-day participatory and interactive training session is aimed at educators working in schools and colleges in Wolverhampton
During the training participants will
- Explore why it is important to work with young people to educate them about mis and disinformation and build their resilience to radicalisation
- Recognise how online influencers work, including an exploration of extreme right wing, Islamist extremism, misogyny, incel culture and the manosphere
- Consider the vulnerabilities which can make young people susceptible to radicalisation
- Explore activities and approaches to develop young people’s critical thinking skills, help them t recognise bias, disinformation and misinformation and reject prejudice and hate
- Develop skills to effectively challenge mis/disinformation, prejudice and stereotypes in conversations with young people to create positive change
- Recognise how to identify signs of harmful influence in young people
- Be equipped to have constructive conversations to safeguard young people at risk
- Be signposted to additional support
After the training, participants will have access to an online portal, providing a comprehensive toolkit of resources to reinforce and extend participants learning and support them to work directly with young people on these issues.
