Each child is unique and a competent and active learner whose potential needs to be encouraged and supported. Each child is a curious, capable and intelligent individual. The child is a co-creator of knowledge who needs and wants interaction with other children and adults.

In the Scottish Government’s national project for the targeted offer to funded early learning and childcare (ELC) for eligible 2 year olds, we are aiming to increase the quality and uptake of this provision, as part of the delivery of the ELC expansion. By August 2020 all 3 and 4 year olds and eligible 2 year olds will be entitled to up to 1140 hours per year of early learning and childcare and there is more flexibility in how this can be accessed.

There is work happening across the country and we want to find a way for everyone to learn, share and ask questions in a safe place. In order to support everyone with an interest in our aim, we want to create an online community for sharing and learning.

But how do we create that space for people across Scotland to share experiences and practice in working with our youngest children in funded ELC?

How do we encourage collaboration and create a network that is focussed and committed to increase the quality and uptake of the offer to our youngest children?

This session will showcase work from a number of areas across Scotland and together we will find out what you need and how we can help each other to keep connected and continue the conversation.
