Event description

Description

Climate breakdown, plastic waste pollution and species extinction are stark indicators that our world is changing rapidly. These socio-ecological challenges pose important questions – how do we respond? What does a greener society look like? What do we need to do to transition to a more sustainable future?

The ‘Creating our Vision for a Greener Future’ workshop offers a unique opportunity for QUB students to consider these and other socio-ecological issues in a hands-on, stimulating way. The workshop opens with a brief table quiz (with prizes for the winning team) to set the context for shared learning around our environment and society, followed by a special performance of ‘Anna’s Journey’, an original short play about climate breakdown, unsustainability and global inequality, performed by four Social Policy students.

Facilitated by staff and students from across the University, small group activities will enable participants to engage with pressing environmental and social issues as a basis for their creation of a piece of art (visual, poetry, story-telling, etc.) to communicate their vision for a greener, sustainable future. The workshop will conclude with discussion and refreshments.

Held as part of Student Development Weeks in Queen's University Belfast, this workshop is funded by QUB's Green Fund.
