Every year since 1983, Daisaku Ikeda, president of SGI, has delivered a peace proposal to the United Nations. These offer a buddhist perspective on the environment, international relations, edcation and culture, offering recommendations about how to move forward towards greater peace globallly. Certain recommendations have been adopted by the UN, such as the 'Decade of Education for Sustainable Development' 2005-14.
This year's proposal 'Universal Respect for Human Dignity: The Great Path to Peace' focuses on how to expand solidarity, and how ordinary people can contribute to the goal of world peace.
On October 29th, Robert Harrap, SGI UK general director and contributor to Radio 2's 'Pause for Thought', will be visiting cambridge to discuss Ikeda's 2016 proposal.
