This workshop is aimed at aerialists who are looking for tools and techniques to develop routines and aerial choreography. It will encourage playful, expressive and theatrical use of your aerial equipment.
Working through a series of solo, pair and ensemble exercises youwill explore creative transitions, movement styles, rhythm, focus, imagery, intention, emotion and characterisation in the air. You will begin to use images and text as stimulation for aerial routines and explore simple narratives.
Please come prepared to improvise, work with a variety of other people and try out new things!
Pre-requisites: Participants must be comfortable and familiar with their aerial equipment, but don't need a high level of technical skill.
Greentop can provide static trapeze, aerial hoop, silks and rope for the participants to use.
About Claire Crook
Claire Crook is an accomplished circus and theatre performer with a wide range of skills. She is primarily an aerial performer specialising in corde lisse. She has worked widely in circus theatre, traditional and contemporary circus, cabaret, corporate and community events. She is an experienced teacher of aerial skills, and a circus rigger. She loves a challenge and is particularly interested in developing narrative, emotional content and theatricality in her work.
Previous credits include : Theatr Genedlaithol Cymru ( National Theatre Wales) Paper Doll Militia, Osborne & What, Citrus Arts, Bassline Circus, 100 Days of Culture Launch and European Capital of Culture celebrations in Turku, Finland.
