Creative Coffee Leicester at Phoenix Square
Wednesday 26th April from 10-12 noon
‘Why Make A Podcast?’
We're back at Phoenix Square this week with another fantastic speaker, Matt Hall. This session will look at the hottest medium out there at the moment. Ever since ‘Serial’ the world has been waking up to the joys of podcasting. As a method of engaging audiences, telling stories and creating a buzz it has few equals.
But what makes a good podcast, and why should brands and companies think of the format when considering how to talk to their audiences?
Matt Hall, who has a thirty year track record in making engaging audio across both radio and podcasting, talks through the options and possibilities of the medium finally shaking off it’s ‘Cinderella’ tag.
Additionally we'll have the usual blend of coffee, creativity and chat.
PLEASE NOTE THE TALK WITH MATT HALL WILL BEGIN AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30AM IN THE SCREEN ROOM

What I Do;
Make stuff. Mainly audio, but also video. Basically multimedia content - I’m a digital production, strategy and management specialist with wide experience ranging across all types of multimedia, but specialising in arts, entertainment and sports content. I work with brands. I like to get my hands dirty, and I’m editorially outstanding, with broad based business development, creative and strategic thinking, and a proven track record of award winning success.
I make things that connect with audiences and build relationships (the thing that podcasts do better than practically any other medium). As a part of this I also carry out user analysis across multimedia apps and social media platforms to identify
What I’ve Done;
I’ve been Development Executive & Exec Producer for Guardian Multimedia, making award winning and chart busting podcasts, feature video shorts and animations. I’ve been a producer and strand editor at BBC Radio, working across all the national networks.
In between these two roles I’ve run the BBC Radio department of the biggest radio indie in the UK (Somethin’ Else) and am currently creating and running podcasts and audio content projects for Unbound, the crowd funded publishers, and consulting for a multitude of other brands including major arts organisations and a number of national and international companies and organisations.
And I produce and co-present Bigmouth, the podcast which give you ‘clever talk about pop culture’ every week;
