Description

Come and learn how to design, make and sell laser-cut jewellery in this free four-day course run by Knowle West Media Centre: The Factory.

As well as developing digital and making skills, you will be introduced to other key aspects of starting your own creative business, including a one-day workshop at Studio Cotton.

The course is open to 18 - 30 year olds living in Bristol.

10am - 4pm Monday 25th March – At KWMC: The Factory

10am - 4pm Monday 1st April - At KWMC: The Factory

10am - 4pm Friday 5th April – At Studio Cotton, City Centre


You must be available to attend all the workshops.

Over four workshops you will be introduced to a variety of techniques, be inspired to develop your ideas and gain vital business skills that could lead you to create your own small business in the future.

As well as creating your own products, you will also explore branding, marketing, finance and be introduced to local networks.

All materials are provided.

Friday 22nd March – At Redbrick House, St Pauls

This session will be delivered by KWMC: The Factory in collaboration with Paper Arts

Monday 25th March – At KWMC: The Factory

An introduction into designing and making jewellery using the lasercutter

Be supported to start your own project creating a jewellery collection

Monday 1st April - At KWMC: The Factory

A day to work on your jewellery collection with dedicated technician support and full use of The Factory facilities

Friday 5th April – At Studio Cotton, City Centre

Finish the course with a full-day at Studio Cotton with a morning session on branding, marketing and platforms for selling, followed by a product photography workshop to showcase your jewellery collection.

FAQs

*If the course is free how come I have to pay a £15 deposit?

We want to ensure that people attend all of the sessions, so we are taking a deposit that will be refunded upon your completion of the course. You can cancel your place and receive a full refund up to seven days before the start of the course. Do let us know if you have a real problem attending any of the sessions but still would like to participate, and we can discuss options to enable you to attend the course.


Do I need to bring anything to the workshops?

All materials will be provided for you. Please make sure you bring lunch with you - there is no cafeteria on site.

Can anyone attend the course?

Unfortunately this course is only for 18 - 30 year olds living in Bristol. If you are outside of this age range but interested in attending a training course at The Factory we do have other opportunities coming up, please get in touch.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the workshops?

There is a car park and bike shed at Filwood Green Business Park. By bus, you can catch the number 90, 50 or 50A (all operated by First) from the centre of town, alight at Willinton Road and walk along Hengrove Way to the business park.

The sessions at Studio Cotton and Redbrick House are centrally located.

Accessibility

Filwood Green Business Park is fully accessible for wheelchair users and can cater for anyone with other specific access requirements.

Our staff are not BSL trained, however we can book an interpretor via Bristol City Council. When booking your place on the course, please let us know any requirements.

We can provide worksheets in large print.

Personal assistants are welcome to attend the workshops with you, please let us know in advance.
