Event description

Description

Is there such a thing as Scottish graphic design

if so where did it come from

and where is it going?

And why does hardly anyone know its history?

To find out, join Mark Breslin (ISO) and Jordan Took (Graphical House), representatives of the younger generation, meet up with Andrew Hunter and Gerry Farrell, two design-veterans. They will discuss the topic „Graphic design and advertising in Scotland – yesterday, today, tomorrow“ with Brian Dixon (Glasgow School of Art) as host. The discussion is open for questions, ideas and opinions from the audience.

The panel discussion will open the exhibition “Creative Heroes - 100 years of design & advertising in Scotland” in The Lighthouse. The exhibition presents selected works from 100 years of design and advertising in Scotland. Starting with pioneers like Charles Rennie Mackintosh it recalls also names like Rex Stewart, Forth Studions and Hall Advertising who shaped and build the Scottish Design Scene.

Entrance will be donated to a youth design project.

Doors open at 6 pm, talks start at 6.30pm - and you'll find some drinks waiting.
