Creative Laser Cutting (beginner)
Sat 10 December 2016, 09:30 – 13:30 GMT
Learn to make a laser cut pendant - in either plywood or acrylic. In the Beams and Bobbins studio (Sparrowpit, near Buxton, Derbyshire) I will teach you how to use Inkscape software to create vector files which can be engraved and cut on the laser cutter. All materials will be provided to create one pendant of your choice - plywood (can be coloured and/or varnished) or acrylic. You will learn how to sublimation-print onto acrylic also (to add patterns to acrylic) and explore how to add acrylic paint into engraved acylic for added colour; as well as add colour washes to plywood before lacquering.
YOU WILL NEED to bring your own laptop (preferably with mouse not touch pad as its easier to use) with Inkscape downloaded (its free - link here: https://inkscape.org/en/). Basic computer skills required. Bring ideas/images with you if you wish!
Refreshments provided throughout. 3hr workshop. Under 13's not suitable.
DISCLAIMER: Will only run with 2-3 attendees (per workshop/date) booked at least 48hrs before the event.
