Event description

Description

The network responds to the Culture White Paper’s (CM 9218) expectation that all museums, theatres, galleries, opera houses or arts groups that receive government money “should reach out to everyone, regardless of their background”.

This event is the fifth in the Creative Margins series and will be hosted by Tate Britain in London. This event will explore "clash of cultures" - collaboration to true partnership.

In the midst of a continuously shifting landscape in the UK, such as government cuts to the youth and cultural sector, this session aims to unpick and understand the social, professional and political barriers across these sectors.

We intend to illuminate the tensions, and challenges surrounding class, skills, expectations and assumptions related to collaborative, and partnership practices across gallery education and youth work. This session aims to ask critical questions, that provide next steps for the potential of moving towards shared practice, and reciprocal partnerships.

Additionally. we will highlight the current discourses related to organisational change, as well as the civic responsibility and social role of the art museum.
