Creative Mending with Patches & Embroidery Workshop

Love clothes? Hate waste? Join us and learn how to creatively repair your favourite clothes, toys and textiles!

We will explore different ways of mending holes to extend the life of your garments. Jane will demonstrate how to make thin patches using traditional darning, simple embroidery and creative patches. Then you’ll have time to get creative with your own mends!

Bring along a garment you would like to mend Everything else will be provided – patches, threads, inspiration and guidance!

This relaxed pace, small group workshop is designed for beginners.

Accompanied children 12 years or older are also welcome, email info@simplyrepair.org.uk to book (£15 for under 18s).

We will provide:

• all the fabrics and threads you will need
• printed worksheets to take home
• hot drinks and biscuits (organic and palm-oil free)

What to bring

• an item or two of clothing in need of small repairs (heavier weight items e.g. denim work best)
• a basic sewing kit (including sharp fabric scissors, sewing needles & pins) if you have one
• any fabric scraps or embroidery yarns that you’d particularly like to use

All requests are confidential, and we offer a no questions asked policy. We will do our best to accommodate but, in the event, where the workshop is already full, we can discuss future options.

Your host

Your host for this workshop is Jane Walton, a local sewing instructor with years of experience helping people learn a wide variety of sewing skills. We are delighted to partner with Jane to offer you a series of learning to sew workshops in 2025/6.

Parking information

Parking at The Factory is free of charge but you must sign in at Space2Create with your registration number within 20 minutes of parking.

Refunds and Cancellations

Tickets will be refunded if:

• The event is cancelled
• The event is rescheduled, and you cannot make the new date
• The event changes location, and you cannot attend
• If you have been charged a booking fee, unfortunately this cannot be refunded.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds if:

• You can no longer attend the event due to personal circumstances
• You have changed your mind about attending the event

We hold repair events where you can get small electricals, clothes, furniture, toys and other household items fixed free of charge. We bring together people with skills to repair and those who want to learn how. Our aims at Simply Repair are to reduce waste, share skills, improve wellbeing and build communities.
