Join us for another Creative Packing Community Day, this time making Essentials Kits for donation.
In partnership with a number of charities and community groups, our Essential Kits activity seeks to bring essential items and hope to those who have found themselves in difficult circumstances. Many people in the Capital who are homeless or seeking asylum often only have the items of clothing they are wearing, and no spare underwear, socks, or hygiene items.
Volunteers decorate a reusable canvas bag with hopeful, positive imagery, and pack them with essential items that to help meet the fundamental needs of those that our beneficiaries’ support. Volunteers also design and write a unique card, which reinforces to the beneficiary that the kits have been made by an individual, acknowledging their personhood.
This is a drop-in event with multiple time slots available, but you are welcome to book several if you would like to stay for longer than on hour.
