About this event
Please note: this event is for people in recovery or people with experience of addiction.
This September, to mark Recovery Month, join Creative Recovery Inverclyde for a hands-on zine-making workshop that celebrates creativity, connection, and community.
Creative Recovery Inverclyde was born out of the realisation that traditional recovery methods often fall short in supporting emotional well-being and mental health. Through creative outlets, the project offers a restorative environment where people can manage emotions, rebuild self-worth, and foster a sense of belonging.
The session is open to anyone in recovery from alcohol or drug misuse, as well as friends, family, and supporters. You don’t need to be an artist or share your personal story—this is a safe, welcoming space to simply be creative and spend time together.
Participants will experiment with cut-and-paste collage, writing, and drawing to create their own handmade zines. By the end, you’ll leave with your own zine, new creative skills, and the experience of being part of a supportive community during Recovery Month.

About Creative Recovery Inverclyde:
CREATIVE RECOVERY INVERCLYDE was born out of the realisation that traditional recovery methods often fall short for those struggling with alcohol and drug misuse, particularly in addressing emotional well-being and mental health. The project provides participants with a creative outlet through various art forms, offering a restorative environment where they can manage their emotions and anxieties. This engagement with the arts not only helps individuals rebuild their self-worth and navigate their recovery, but also fosters a deep sense of community and belonging.
