Welcome to the second in Iriss Skills Sessions series, a collection of webinars focused on big ideas for improved practice in social work and social care.
‘Creative (re)presentation - Telling stories through a participatory and voice-led approach and the making of the film Healing Pitch is a free online session focused on including people's authentic experiences in creative ways that empowers people without exposing them to harm.
Dr Emily Whyte (Iriss Development Lead) will be presenting how she collected, analysed, and (re)presented data alongside care-experienced children and young people, that led to the creation of a play co-written by four care-experienced young people. Emily also made a film of a staged reading of the play that isn’t just a richly engaging video that brings the audience a deeper understanding of the experiences of the writers, but also represents a compelling avenue of methodologies for people to explore and express their true stories without risk of retraumatisation, or other harmful effects. As part of the session Emily will be screening a part of the film and inviting reflections.
