Overview

A creative and more technical session delving deeper in to Screen Printing

Come and join me at my Nunburnholme Print Studio for a more in-depth look at Screen Printing. Learn how to photographically transfer an image on to a screen and print multiple registered colours from your own designs. Unleash your creativity and design and print your very own cards or print through the medium of screen printing with hopefully impressive results!

The Course

Design and print your own small edition of 1 colour or 2 colour prints through the medium of screen printing using the photo emulsion method.

You’ll learn about mixing inks and how to print and register layers.

The outcome will be your own two colour print edition.

Who Is The Course Suitable For?

Whether you're a seasoned designer or just looking to try something new, this event is perfect for all skill levels.

What you'll be doing

Screen printing is the process whereby ink is pushed through a fine silk mesh stretched over a screen. A squeegee is used to push the ink through the 'open' areas of the screen depositing an even layer of ink on to the fabric or paper below. Many colours/layers and multiple copies can be printed.

In this workshop Alison will use her 20 plus years of experience to guide you through creating your own design or pattern, coating and photographically exposing a screen and choosing and mixing your colours. You'll then print your design using a squeegee and screen on to paper and card.

A great workshop for groups of friends. Approx 6 hrs including a light lunch.

The workshop will involve:

  • Introduction to screen printing and how it works
  • A look at considerations for your print.
  • Coating a screen with light sensitive emulsion
  • Photographically exposing your own design on to the screen
  • Choosing or mixing your colour and how to do this
  • How to prepare the screen and bed
  • Print demonstration
  • How to print and register multiple layers

You will be contacted prior to the workshop to discuss your artwork and the sending of this prior to the workshop. You may want to work from a photograph or drawing.

There will be unlimited tea and coffee, a snack and light lunch provided . Please advise of any dietery requirements or allergies upon booking.
