Creative Story Telling: Video and Editing
Overview
Videos can be a powerful tool to tell your story, demonstrate your impact, and engage your audience with what you do. But how do you begin to plan your videos, and what free and easy-to-use software is available to edit your content?
Join us for this in-person session where we will look at techniques for planning and recording simple videos, and introduce you to free and open source digital editing tools.
We will look at storyboarding to plan and record insightful 90-second videos, and explore visual and audio editing software such as DaVinci Resolve to turn your footage into a powerful short video.
There will also be opportunities for discussion and feedback, and a chance to reflect on how what you've learnt will affect your work, as well as the communities you support.
About the trainer
Your trainer for this session will be Somerset-based artist Richard Tomlinson, a specialist in photography, film, and digital media, and founder of Original Light.
Richard has been commissioned by many cultural organisations in the south west, including: Take Art, Somerset Film, The South West Heritage Trust, Somerset Art Works, Activate Performing Arts, Pavilion Dance South West and B-Side Art. He is also a Community Curator with South West Heritage Trust, and involved with a long-term early years creativity project with Take Art.
Please note: We are hosting a session with Richard on Thursday 15 January which will look into using photography to tell stories. Tickets for an individual session are £10, but if you're interested in attending both, your ticket for this session on Wednesday 18 February will be £5. Please select this option when booking.
This training is offered as part of a project that is being funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund. Subsidised tickets are solely available to VCFSE staff and volunteers from organisations operating in Somerset.
