Creative storytelling - Female Networking Event Plymouth February 2022
Event Information
About this event
Theme for February: Creative storytelling in marketing and business
Wow. January’s Female Creatives Networking Event was amazing! What a mix of
talent and experience. And such a diverse group of women. It was a real privilege to
facilitate the event and share that space with you all. It feels like it was only last
week but the month has definitely flown because it’s time to introduce our next
theme for February 2022.
As you are aware, the events have been created for networking purposes - local
female creatives spoke and we listened. You expressed an interest in meeting
face-to-face again and we jumped to the challenge. The networking is vital of
course but the theme we explore during each event is also really important. It brings
focus to the event but it also offers each of us an opportunity to develop an aspect
of our creative practise or business. Or maybe you attend just for fun? That’s 100%
okay as well. Whatever your reasons it would be amazing to get to know you all
better. And is there anything more crucial to our creative development than
understanding how to share our story? Or more importantly, how to tell it?
Creative storytelling in marketing and business has become a bit of a buzzphrase
over the last few years. It seems like everyone is using it as a marketing device for
their business to sell products and services. And for good reason, it’s a powerful
tool. But it doesn’t have to be used to sell. Storytelling is essentially about sharing.
It’s about connection. You offer a part of yourself to the world and you develop new
relationships and sometimes strengthen old ones. It’s a peek behind the curtain and
fundamentally, it feels good to write it and you’d be surprised how many people are
truely interested in your experiences.
We’ll explore some basic storytelling techniques that will help you write about your
life. And as mentioned, this doesn’t need to be shared with anyone if you choose,
you could use what you learn to begin journaling in your spare time or as a social
media tool to help you connect with your online community. Or do nothing with the
information. It’s your choice. During the event, we’ll explore a few related topics and
if there’s enough time maybe we’ll produce a small piece of writing, but if the last
event is anything to go by, I doubt there will be time to fit in any type of practical
activity because we were all chatting so amazingly.
