This October 2025, Lucille Acevedo-Jones is a costume designer, maker and activist, taking part in the Tooting & Furzedown Art Trail (venue 4) Wandsworth Artist's Open House.
As part of the exhibition, she will be running drop-in workshop sessions offering creative mending tutoring & advice in exchange for a donation to her husband's Mind UK fundraising event (suggested donation £10). Each session is for 1 hour. Lucille is passionate about inspiring people to make sustainable choices and keep their clothes out of landfill.
Bring an item of clothing you would like to mend, make a donation to the fundraiser and join in the creative mending fun! There will be an array of tools, materials, sample pieces and books available to inspire you. Lucille will guide and advise you in your choice of mending technique which could include: darning, patching, free form embroidery, sashiko or boro.
On show in the space there will be costume sketches, oil sketches, silk screen mono prints, weaving, vintage clothing & accessories, upcycled clothing, printed organic t-shirt, all available for sale. Her husband Glyn Roberts will also be exhibiting photography work and offering charity portraits as part of the fundraiser(follow the fundraising link for more information on that!).
