Week 1: The Fundamentals in Watercolours
Start with an overview of watercolour painting techniques and essential materials like brushes, paper, and paints. Explore basic techniques such as washes and gradients, and understand colour theory for harmonious compositions.
Week 2: Exploring Textures and Effects
Learn to create textures with unconventional tools and mediums. Master layering for depth and transparency, and complete a landscape or abstract piece focusing on these techniques.
Week 3: Modern Styles
Draw inspiration from contemporary artists and explore expressive brushwork to convey feeling and emotion. Create a piece inspired by a modern artist, applying the techniques learned.
Week 4: Mastering Personal Expression
Develop your unique style through experimentation. Participate in a group critiques to refine your work, culminating in a final artwork that highlights your personal expression and innovation.
