Join Muslim Women Connect for a unique skill-sharing session in collaboration with Nakshi Stitch, a grassroots social enterprise empowering women artisans in Bangladesh through the traditional art of Kantha embroidery. Led by founder Tahsin, this hands-on workshop will introduce you to the beautiful stitching techniques that bring Nakshi Kantha to life.
Whether you're completely new or have some experience, you'll learn how to create your own stitched design and take home your handcrafted piece rooted in heritage and care.
This is more than just a craft session—it’s a chance to connect with faith, community, and values that continue to shape how we live today.
As we create together, we’ll take a moment to reflect on Islamic principles of simplicity, resourcefulness, and mindful living. Inspired by the example of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), who mended his own clothes with care and gratitude, we’ll explore how faith encourages us to consume consciously, value what we have, and bring intention to the everyday.
You can also begin your day with a guided tour of the breathtaking Cambridge Central Mosque from 11:30am – 12:30pm (limited spaces available). A masterpiece of sacred architecture, it blends Islamic tradition with eco-conscious design - from its majestic timber columns shaped like trees, to the tranquil garden that invites peace and reflection. After the tour, we’ll walk together to the workshop venue.
