This is an online Self-Study course. The Self-Study course is for writers who cannot attend the classes or prefer to study the material in their own time. You can access the course content anytime you want, in the comfort of your own home. You have three options: You can access the course content through Dropbox, Google Drive, or via our Online Academy on Teachable.

The course content consists of audio recordings, lecture notes and a workbook with questions and writing exercises. These materials will help you keep track of your work, and you can re-use it when working on other writing ideas.

The fee for the Self-Study Course is ₦10,000

You’ll learn:

1) How to choose a great idea for your novel

2) How to refine your ideas and pick one worth spending weeks and months on

3) How to create interesting characters (and choose your protagonist)

4) What point of view is, and which one suits you (and your story) best

5) How to choose a setting in time and place that works for the story you’re telling

6) What elements are absolutely essential to crafting a compelling plot

7) How to write your outline and synopsis

8) Different genres, the rules of writing for each genre, and the expectations of readers

9) What are you next steps when you finish your first draft? A look at editing, proofreading and beyond.

At the end of the course, you will have started writing your novel, and you’ll be armed with the knowledge you need to keep going.

This class is aimed at beginners, although writers who have started working on short stories, blogs, articles and other ideas can also join. If you're new to writing long forms of cition such as novel, you will definitely benefit from this course.

Course Tutor: Tolulope Popoola

Tolulope Popoola is an award winning Author, Writing Coach and Publisher. She is the founder of Accomplish Press, a company that provides coaching, courses, consulting and publishing services to writers. She has published a novel, and two collections of flash fiction stories, and has written extensively for many magazines and publications. She was given a special Award of Excellence at the 2016 Nigerian Writers’ Awards, and has recently been shortlisted for Diaspora Writer of the Year for the 2017 awards. Tolulope was second runner up at the Women In Publishing (UK) Awards 2012, for the New Venture Award for pioneering work on behalf of under-represented groups in society. Tolulope’s first novel Nothing Comes Close was named “one of the best books of 2012” by Africa Book Club. She has also earned the nickname of “Africa’s flash fiction queen” for her unique ways with writing dramatic short stories.
