Event description
Creative Writing workshop for anyone in the not-for-profit sector seeking ways to nourish their mental health, wellbeing and resilience.

About this Event

The pressures of working within the not-for-profit sector are well-known. People may either ‘burn out’ from overwhelm, or ‘freeze out’ by distancing themselves from others’ distress, leading to indifference. Both extremes can lead to emotional and spiritual damage. As we emerge from lockdown and enter a time of transition, many in the sector are facing even greater challenges as lives are changed in innumerable ways and we experience disruption and uncertainty. Many are having to work harder and in new ways to support some of the most vulnerable in society.

Would you appreciate a safe space to explore and nourish your creativity? Whether you wish to share your writing with the world or to keep it private, the workshop will support you to gain new perspectives and find your voice.

Suitable for anyone wanting to use writing as a self-care practice. No experience of creative writing required.

Format:

This workshop will introduce you to a range of expressive, reflective and creative writing techniques to support your wellbeing and help you to build resilience.

The workshop will provide a supportive, non-judgemental and equal space where participants can engage with a variety of enjoyable writing exercises.

We will work individually, in small groups and as one group. There will be a maximum of 12 participants.

There is no pressure to share your personal writing.

Requirements:

You will need internet access, PC/laptop with video and audio connection. You will be sent the invitation to connect via Zoom before the event with instructions for joining the workshop.

Please bring a notebook, a pen and a willingness to participate in the moment.

About the workshop leader:

Judi is a writer, facilitator and coach. She founded The Writing Space in 2011 and works with a wide range of groups and individuals to encourage personal and professional transformation through coaching, creative writing and wellbeing.

She has received excellent feedback from her previous workshops:

The variety of stimuli, the genuine encouragement and perceptive feedback have made lockdown an oasis of creativity, both beneficial and pleasurable.

Judi is an excellent facilitator and has a lovely way of bringing out the best in her clients.

I feel very lucky to have been part of such a supportive, nurturing group during such extraordinary times.

Judi’s skill in holding the online space was every bit as good as I have experienced in her real life courses.

Judi is a master at bringing people together, setting minds free to explore new perspectives, making it feel safe to dig into feelings and observations, and giving solid starting blocks that help the words and rhythm of writing flow into order.

This was a real lifeline. Thank you Judi, you’ve made me fall in love with writing all over again.
