Creative Writing For Wellbeing Day

Where: The Mansion House at Calderstones Park, Liverpool, L18 3JBWhen: Sunday 21st September, 10am - 4:30pm

When was the last time you took a proper break from everything?

Not just a quick scroll break or an hour squeezed in at the end of the day, but actual time to slow down, switch off, and focus on you for a change.

This creative writing for wellbeing day retreat is a chance to do exactly that. A full day away from distractions, spent writing, walking, reflecting and maybe remembering what it’s like to have a bit of space to think and reconnect with your creativity.

It’s not about being productive or creating something polished.

It’s about using writing as a tool to check in with yourself. To process what’s on your mind. To notice how you’re feeling, and allow yourself to explore the wonderful places your imagination can take you without judgment, pressure or expectation.

You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need to have a story in mind or a perfectly sharpened pencil. You just need to show up with a notebook, a bit of curiosity, and the willingness to see where the day takes you.

Held at The Reader Mansion in the heart of Calderstones Park, this in-person day retreat is designed to help you feel calmer, clearer and more connected, both to your creativity and to yourself.

Your Ticket Includes:

  • Guided creative writing sessions throughout the day
  • A gentle, guided poetry-inspired walk through Calderstones Park
  • Morning pastries and fruit on arrival
  • A buffet lunch
  • Afternoon cakes
  • Unlimited tea and coffee
  • A goodie bag to take home and keep the inspiration going

This isn’t about performance or pressure. It’s just a day to write, reflect, and reset.

Places are strictly limited to ensure a safe space for all participants.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a writer?

Nope. Zero experience is needed. This is about the act of writing, not producing a masterpiece. But if you do write regularly, you’re welcome too. This event is structured to treat all levels of experience as equals.

Is it accessible?

Yes - the venue is fully accessible. If you have specific access or inclusion needs, just let me know when you book and I’ll make sure you’re accommodated.

What if I don't want to share?

That’s fine. It’s a small group (max 15) so the space stays safe and supportive. We’ll have some group discussiont, but there’s no pressure to divulge. You can share as much or as little as you like without judgement.

Who can join?

Anyone 16+. If you’re under 18, you’ll need to be accompanied by someone over 18. Beyond that? Creativity is for everyone. All ages, genders, and backgrounds are welcome. The mix of perspectives is what makes the day and its activities really interesting.

What am I paying for?

Oh yeah, that’s an important one. You’re getting a full day of guided writing, a mindful poetry walk, pastries, lunch, tea, coffee, cake (yes, cake), and a goodie bag. But the real value? Time and space that’s yours to disconnect from life and reconnect to creativity.

Who are you and why should I book with you?

No need to worry about stranger danger. I’m Liam - I’ve got a BA in Creative Writing, I run a monthly writing club in Liverpool, and I’ve led storytelling workshops for years. I spend my days helping businesses find the right words, but I’m most passionate about making creativity feel accessible a
