IEFE 1-day masterclass in creative writing will help you gain the tools you need to craft and pitch your novel.

Our masterclass, led by author Carlie Sorosiak, will teach you how to build compelling characters and interesting worlds, as well as pitch those ideas to literary agents and build an online platform.

Tutor profile

Carlie Sorosiak is the author of If Birds Fly Back, a novel published by Macmillan UK and HarperCollins US. It will be available in seven languages, followed by a second standalone novel in 2018. She holds an MSt. in English from the University of Oxford and an MA in creative writing and publishing from City, University of London. For the last five years, she’s split her time between the UK and the US, and guest lectures at several London universities. Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the Masterclass?

All participant must be over the age of 18 to be able to sit in this Masterclass. If you're fortunate enough to look underage, then please bring along some photo ID showing your date of birth - you will be asked for it.

What can I bring to the Masterclass?

You will need a pen and notebook or a laptop, for notes and the writing exercise. We will be in touch via email prior to the Masterclass if any specific equipment needed.

What's the refund policy?

You will get the full refund if you cancel at least 7 days in advance of the programme start date; failure to cancel on time or missed session do not entitle to alternate session or refund.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring a printed copy of your ticket to the Masterclass or have your ticket ready on your smartphone to show at the door.

Can I update my registration information?

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, you may transfer your ticket at any time. Please follow Eventbrite policy or contact us for further information.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please email us in advance of the session as this might create some complications on your arrival and throughout the session.

When should I arrive?

Please don't plan to arrive any more than 15 minutes before the start time of the event.

How long will the Masterclass last?

The Masterclass will start at 9:45 am, and there will be an hour break for lunch and each day will finish at 4:30 pm.

Complimentary drinks and snacks will be provided on the second day to mark the end of the programme. This is where you will receive your certificate and you can use this time to reflect on your experience with other fellow participants and industry experts.

Do I need to pay extra for the certificate?

No, upon successful completion of your course you will be awarded an IEFE certificate of excellence with no additional cost.

What refreshments are served at the training?

Refreshments will be served free of charge. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requests or restrictions. Email us at admission@iefe.uk

Do I have to book using Eventbrite?

Not necessarily. You can simply contact us at admission@iefe.uk and we will issue an invoice in advance of your attendance. Alternatively, you can visit our website IEFE.UK and make an online payment via our website.

Do you provide accommodation?

The price did not include any accommodation. However, you may contact us if you would like us to arrange your accommodation at an extra cost.
